Parenzana – on the trail of the old railway
The Parenzana is a former narrow-gauge railway that connected Poreč with Trieste from 1902 to 1935. It runs through the picturesque landscape of Istria and is today one of the most beautiful cycle paths on the Adriatic.
The Croatian part of the trail is almost entirely preserved and is a gravel road along the entire route, ideal for mountain bikes and gravel. On the section between Buje and Vižinada there are seven shady tunnels and six valley overpasses, numerous rest areas and viewpoints along the trail invite you to linger and in Livade you can even visit a small Parenzana museum.
